Report: Nottingham Forest have now made their first bid to sign 'great' player after PL rival exit race

Nottingham Forest have made a bid for Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis to bolster Steve Cooper’s firepower.

The Athletic report that the newly-promoted club have made their move to sign the Nigerian international.

They say that the package on offer is worth in the region of £20 million, once all add-ons have been included.

And they also claim that West Ham United have now dropped out of the race for Dennis, leaving Forest’s run more clear.

Forest bid for Dennis

They say that Watford have been willing to sell Dennis for the right price throughout the transfer window after their relegation to the Championship.

It remains to be seen whether Forest’s bid matches that valuation, but it looks to be in the right ballpark.

That would still see Watford turn a big profit on Dennis in one year after signing him for £3 million from Club Bruges, even allowing for the sell-on fee the Belgian club are now owed.

Watford legend Troy Deeney said Dennis could go on to become a Hornets ‘great‘ but it looks like he could be on his way after just one season.

The report says Dennis is wanted to partner fellow new-boy Taiwo Awoniyi in the Forest attack as they look to survive in the Premier League.

Next up for Forest are West Ham, whom they beat to the signing of Jesse Lingard this summer and want to beat to Dennis too.
