Nottingham Forest are hoping to poach one of former boss Aitor Karanka’s key men this summer, with the Sunday People (30/8; page 53) reporting that Sabri Lamouchi is eyeing a move for Lukas Jutkiewicz.
Jutkiewicz enjoyed another impressive season in the Championship last term. The 31-year-old scored 15 goals for the Blues. He has now reached double figures in three of the last four campaigns.
The Sunday People (30/8; page 53) reports that Forest wanted Jutkiewicz during the January transfer window.
They failed to land the former Burnley man during the previous window. However, it is being reported that they plan to make another move this summer.
The People notes that the forward is not going to be easy to prise away from St Andrew’s. He reportedly only signed a new contract with the Blues last year.
TBR View: Jutkiewicz has potential to be an inspired addition for Forest
It would be no surprise to see Forest strengthen their attacking options this summer. Lewis Grabban was outstanding again with 20 goals, but he was the only player to reach double figures last term.
A deal for Jutkiewicz may not capture the imagination. But it could be incredibly clever.
Few could have imagined how influential former Forest man David McGoldrick would prove to be at Sheffield United following his switch to Bramall Lane in 2018. But he went on to play a crucial role in their promotion-clinching campaign.
A move for Jutkiewicz arguably has shades of McGoldrick’s Blades switch about it. And with Forest already making a number of impressive signings, it is certainly not out of the question to suggest Lamouchi’s men will be in the mix once again next season.
