Nottingham Forest have begun talks with Huddersfield Town over a loan move for Adama Diakhaby, and The Sun on Sunday (19/1; page 63) reports that there may be scope for a permanent deal further down the line.
Sabri Lamouchi’s men are right in the Championship promotion mix. They would go two points off the automatic-promotion spots with a win in their game in hand.

Nevertheless, it appears that the Forest boss is keen to add to his squad this month.
The Sun on Sunday (19/1; page 63) reports that the promotion-chasers are in talks with the Terriers regarding a move for the 23-year-old.

Diakhaby has not had the easiest time since moving to the John Smith’s Stadium for £8 million. He made just six Premier League starts last season, and is yet to reach double figures for this campaign either.
The former France under-21 international has contributed two assists in the Championship. But he has not played since the end of November.
The report notes that the two clubs are currently discussing a loan move, but that could become permanent if he impresses.
TBR View – Loan move is worth the gamble
Lamouchi will have a good idea of what Diakhaby is capable of. The youngster left Rennes just a couple of months before the Forest boss was appointed at the Ligue 1 side. They also came up against each other during the 2017/18 season while the wide-man was at Monaco.
It has not worked out at Huddersfield. But he is still young and developing.
And that would suggest that Forest are right to take a gamble on the attacker. They are in a fantastic position in the promotion race, and one or two inspired signings may make a huge difference.
