Report: Norwich and Burnley want Liverpool starlet Neco Williams on loan

Norwich and Burnley are leading the chase for Liverpool youngster Neco Williams, who could be allowed to go out on loan next season.

The Welshman is one of a number of young players impressing at Anfield under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp. Williams played 14 times in all competitions last season.

However, the 20-year-old barely featured in the second part of the Premier League season. And according to TeamTalk, Williams is now being eyed by as many as six clubs this summer.

Norwich and Burnley are both keen at PL level. Down in the Championship, Swansea, Cardiff, Barnsley, and Stoke are all credited with an interest.

Liverpool are likely to assess a number of younger and fringe players over the summer months. The likes of Harry Wilson and Marko Grujic are expected to leave permanently.

Curtis Jones is a first-team regular so will go nowhere. However, players like Williams could be allowed out on loan. A season away from Anfield, then, seen as ideal in his development.

Williams is already a regular for Wales. He has 10 caps to his name already and Ryan Giggs previously labelled him ‘outstanding‘.

Liverpool sending Neco Williams on loan a good move, they just need the right club

Of those mentioned here, Norwich would be ideal. They play attacking football and with Max Aarons potentially leaving, there is a slot for Williams to take.

Premier League football will be what Williams wants, too. A move to the Championship is not the end of the world but he is certainly good enough for the top flight already.

From Liverpool’s perspective, it’s probably a good decision. Williams is clearly one for the future so getting regular minutes will help him.

And if those minutes come at the highest level, then that’s a massive bonus for the Reds and Williams.
