Report: No medical yet but Everton confident of Fikayo Tomori deal

Everton are hopeful that their long-standing admiration for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori will convince the England under-21 international to join the club this summer.

That is according to a report from the Liverpool ECHO, who claim the player is a major target for Everton as they look to strengthen their backline.

An injury to Mason Holgate recently highlighted the need for Everton to bring another defender in this summer and Tomori was a target last summer.

Everton were hopeful of following up a successful season for Kurt Zouma at Goodison Park with another Chelsea player. However, David Luiz’s move to Arsenal ended their interest.

This summer, reports have circulated suggesting Everton are again back in for Tomori, with some even hinting a medical could be due.

That is not, according to the ECHO, the case. They claim Everton and Chelsea have not reached an agreement for the player and that Tomori has interest from elsewhere.

However, Everton are hoping the fact they wanted the 22-year-old last summer will help him decide on Goodison Park as his best option.

Everton will no doubt be hoping to secure this deal, with Yerry Mina’s injury proneness and Michael Keane’s streaky form concerns at the back.

Tomori could be a vital addition and also brings versatility with his ability to play full-back.

Hopefully, a medical will be undertaken soon and Everton can secure this eye-catching loan deal before long.
