According to a report from The Scottish Sun, a buyout clause in Niklas Dorsch’s contract means that Celtic could potentially sign the midfielder for just £3.2 million.
The report suggests that the Hoops want the Heidenheim youngster, who has scored one goal and provided two assists in Germany’s second tier this season.
The Scottish Sun reports that the former Bayern Munich prospect is being tipped to be a future star of the Germany national team, but could move on the cheap next summer.
Interestingly, the report adds that he is open to the idea of moving to Parkhead. It is noted that the prospect of playing in European competition does appeal to the 21-year-old.
A deal looks to have the potential to be a masterstroke for Celtic. He has already made over 100 career appearances, and is now playing regularly for Germany’s under-21s.
The problem Celtic have is that they are clearly not going to be the only team interested. His reported asking price takes almost all risk out of a potential deal. And there is plenty of time for more teams to register an interest.
But Celtic must have a good chance of striking a deal. As mentioned, they can offer European football and Dorsch would be joining a club that regularly win trophies.
