Sky Sports have claimed on their Transfer Centre (Thursday, 7.10am) that Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy is undergoing a medical ahead of a season-long loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
New Toon manager Steve Bruce joined Newcastle from Championship side Sheffield Wednesday and has recently admitted that he was “selfish” in leaving the Owls to pursue a dream move to St. James’ Park.
Murphy, 24, joined Newcastle for £12million (Sky Sports) in the summer of 2017 but struggled in his first campaign on Tyneside. He played 25 times, before making 16 appearances before joining West Brom in January.

He impressed at the Baggies, scoring two goals as the Midlands side reached the Championship play-off semi-final. But he has failed to do enough this summer for Bruce to keep him at Newcastle.
Newcastle have options on the flanks after bringing in Allan Saint-Maximin from OGC Nice this summer. The club also boast Miguel Almiron, Matt Ritchie, Chris Atsu and more. Murphy has a contract at Newcastle until 2021.
But a move for Murphy to Sheffield Wednesday, in which a medical has started, could be Bruce doing his old team Wednesday a favour after leaving with a bad taste left in supporters’ mouths. Murphy will be hoping to impress, in order to save his Newcastle future.
