According to a report from Israeli outlet Walla Sports, Newcastle United are interested in signing Manor Solomon from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 22-year-old became extremely popular last season thanks to goals home and away against Real Madrid in the Champions League. He was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal rumoured to be the favourites to sign him.

No move materialised and Solomon stayed at Shakhtar. However, if a latest report is to be believed, the Israeli international could move to England in the January transfer window – not to join Arsenal, but to sign for Newcastle United.

Newcastle United want Manor Solomon

The Magpies are expected by everyone to make a statement in January. Newcastle have been linked with some of the biggest names in football, and fans are hoping there will be at least one big signing in the winter window.

Eddie Howe To Newcastle Is EMBARRASSING

Solomon may not be a high-profile signing, but he’s still a very good player. The 22-year-old is very quick, is an excellent dribbler and he showed last season in the Champions League that he can step up against the top sides.

The report claims that although Newcastle fans are hoping to sign players for huge money, the financial fair play rules will complicate things for them. That is the reason why they’re looking at Solomon, who won’t cost a fortune.

The former Maccabi Petah Tikva star has just a little over two years left on his contract. The January transfer window would be the perfect time for Shakhtar to cash in on him, with Newcastle reportedly keen.

The new Eden Hazard

In November last year, The Guardian released an article detailing Solomon’s progression over the last few years. They compared the Israeli winger to Real Madrid and Belgian superstar Eden Hazard.

Hazard was one of the best players in the Premier League during his time in England. He helped Chelsea win almost everything and there are very few players in world football as skilful as him.

Solomon is nowhere near where Hazard was when he was 22. He still has a long way to go, but if he can even become half the player the Belgian was, he will end up at a top club in the very near future.
