Newcastle United are already looking at new players to buy in January and have reportedly identified Manchester United midfielder, Jesse Lingard, as one of those players.
That’s according to a report from The Telegraph, who claim that Lingard has been earmarked as a potential new signing by Newcastle’s new owners, who are desperate to make an impression in January.
Lingard, 28, enjoyed a stunning six months with West Ham last year. He scored nine and assisted a further five in a blistering loan spell. But Lingard decided to stay in Manchester in the summer, despite not agreeing a new contract. His current £100k-week-deal is set to expire in the summer.

The Telegraph claims Newcastle will revisit their past interest in Lingard, firmly armed with huge funds from their new owners. It could mean that the Man United star decides that now is the time to move to St James’ Park, despite rejecting the Magpies before.
Lingard has won 31 caps for England and has won plenty of trophies with Manchester United, including the Europa League under Jose Mourinho.
TBR’s View: Lingard the perfect first signing for Newcastle
Talk about a perfect signing. Lingard would be ideal for Newcastle and you’d surely be hard-pressed to find a member of the Toon Army who wouldn’t want him.
Lingard brings experience, goals, assists, and a big team mentality to the equation. Yes, he’s not always been a regular at Old Trafford, but he’s been around winning teams and big characters all his career.
Newcastle need these sorts of players. The bigger names might come down the line, of course. But at the moment, they need proven PL stars who can make an immediate impact. Lingard, then, fits the bill.
January will be huge for Newcastle. And with Lingard and other names being mentioned, the Toon Army can get excited.
