AllNigeriaSoccer have claimed that Newcastle United have made initial enquiries to sign Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho this summer – and will look to land the Nigeria whether a takeover goes through, or not.
Iheanacho, 23, has scored 10 goals in 24 Leicester appearances this season despite starting just 15 of those. He has been forced to play second fiddle to Jamie Vardy, though of late he has played alongside the English ace.
The former Manchester City star is renowned for his pace, ability to score goals out of nothing and even his versatility – given he can play out wide as well as up front. He has a contract at Leicester until 2022.
The striker, who cost Leicester a whopping £25million (BBC) in the summer of 2017, is represented by the same agency as Jonjo Shelvey, Javier Manquillo, Andy Carroll and Ciaran Clark.
It is believed that Newcastle have opened talks to sign the Leicester attacker, and will look to sign the 23-time Nigeria international this summer – whether a takeover is completed, or not.

TBR’s view – Iheanacho would be a top, top signing
Wherver Iheanacho has been, the African ace has been forced to play as back-up. At Manchester City, he was behind Sergio Aguero and other strikers – but still managed 21 goals in 64 games.
At Leicester, he has 20 goals and 12 assists in 87 – despite starting just 41 of those. This season, he is beginning to show how good he can be, and if he is made first choice at a club like Newcastle, he would thrive.
