Newcastle United are interested in Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt, with The Sun reporting (19/7; page 60) that there are doubts over whether Danny Rose will make his move from Tottenham Hotspur permanent.
Rose has spent the last few months on loan from Spurs. He has made nine Premier League appearances for the Magpies. But it appears that his St James’ Park future may have a question mark hanging over it.
The Sun (19/7; page 60) reports that there are doubts over whether he will make his move from Tottenham permanent.
And thus, The Sun reports that the Magpies have added another Palace player to their transfer wishlist with Wilfried Zaha already a target for Steve Bruce.
According to the report, Bruce also wants van Aanholt.
TBR View: Hopes of move may have already been dashed
Following Palace’s latest game, it would appear that Newcastle’s hopes of signing van Aanholt may have already been dashed.
As reported by Reuters, Roy Hodgson suggested that the Netherlands international could miss the start of next season after dislocating his shoulder.
It remains to be seen if that rules out the possibility of a summer move for the former Sunderland man.
Some may not be too disappointed if a move is off the table given his connection to the Black Cats. But given that he has been a consistent performer in the top flight for a number of years, Bruce may be reluctant to give up hope – particularly if Rose returns to Tottenham.
