According to The Athletic, Newcastle are interested in signing Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe, who Steve Bruce knows well.
What’s the story?
Well, the 23-year-old is said to be someone who Newcastle are monitoring, as Tuanzebe struggles for game time at Old Trafford,
The England Under-21 defender spent time with Bruce while on loan at Aston Villa back in 2018.
Sadly, their time together at Villa Park was short lived, as Bruce received the sack and was replaced by Dean Smith.
However, Bruce clearly saw something in Tuanzebe, as he’s now keen to reunite with him on Tyneside.
Kylian Mbappe and Neymar vs Axel Tuanzebe

Due to a mini injury crisis at the back, Manchester United were forced to use Tuanzebe in a Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain last season.
Up against two of Europe’s best forwards in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, you would’ve forgiven the centre-back if he delivered a poor display.
However, Tuanzebe absolutely shone.

He managed to keep both forwards off the scoresheet, and outpaced Mbappe on a number of occasions.
Manchester United’s official website even described the £50,000-a-week defender’s display as flawless, when writing an entire article about it.
If Newcastle do sign Tuanzebe, the St James’ Park faithful should be encouraged by how he fared against PSG’s two superstars.
