According to the Mirror, Newcastle are keen to sign Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara, who Liverpool and Manchester City have scouted.
What’s the story?
Well, the Mirror believe Newcastle want to sign the 21-year-old this summer.
Ligue 1 is suffering from a financial crisis due to COVID-19, with French clubs looking to sell their assets in desperation for funds.
Newcastle could be the beneficiaries of such a situation.
Marseille are happy to sell, as long as they receive an offer in the region of £15m.
The Mirror claim that Newcastle feel the Frenchman’s resale value could rocket with some impressive displays in the Premier League.
Interestingly, the Mirror add that Liverpool and Manchester City have scouted Kamara, but are yet to firm up their interest.
The Marseille No.4 specialises in defensive midfield, but can also operate as a centre-back.
Potential gold mine for Newcastle

Newcastle are no strangers to finding gems in France.
The Magpies signed Yohan Cabaye for just £4.3m back in 2011, and also found a bargain when signing Moussa Sissoko, who was sold for £30m.
Add the captures of Mathieu Debuchy and Allan Saint-Maximin to that list, and Ligue 1 has certainly served Newcastle well.

Clearly, the Magpies have a good knowledge of that area of the globe.
In that respect, now is the time to pounce.
Newcastle would be silly not to scan the division for more bargains, especially due to the financial situation over in Ligue 1.
