According to The Guardian, Newcastle United are unlikely to sign Jarrod Bowen during January.

The Hull City man is valued at £20 million by Hull but the Magpies consider him worth far less.

It is thought that Mike Ashley would be willing to sanction a deal for the 23-year-old but only if the price is more to Newcastle’s liking.

Bowen has been magnificent for the Tigers this season. He has smashed 17 goals and registered six assists during 2019/20.

The tricky winger was signed from Hereford in 2014 and having made over 100 appearances for Hull, naturally they value him highly.

Although Bowen is out of contract in the summer, Hull aren’t under a great deal of pressure to sell.

As the player is under 24 they would still be entitled to compensation should he walk away at the end of the campaign.

Newcastle are currently 14th in the Premier League and will hope to climb the league.

Steve Bruce has already added Nabil Bentaleb from Schalke and winger Valentino Lazaro from Inter Milan.

Hull have lost their last three games in the league and are now eight points adrift of a play-off place.

TBR View – Bowen signing would be a risk worth taking for Newcastle

The Hull winger has shown the skills this season to become a top player.

His goals and assists record in the Championship has been flawless and it’s easy to see why clubs are circling.

If Newcastle could come to an agreement right now it would certainly be ideal.

With the compensation package at the end of the season likely to be a lot smaller than the £20 million valuation right now, other clubs might show their hand.

Bruce has added two quality players to his ranks so far and the up-and-coming Bowen could complement his squad nicely.
