Newcastle United’s impending Saudi-backed takeover has seen a long list of top managers being linked with a move to St James’ Park.
So who do the current Newcastle United players want to take them into this exciting new era?
Mauricio Pochettino? Rafa Benitez? Lucien Favre?
Apparently not, according to a report from The Sun. Instead, they suggest that the Newcastle United players want Steve Bruce to remain at the club.
The report suggests that captain Jamaal Lascelles is leading the charge to try and prove that Bruce deserves to keep his job with some stellar performances if the Premier League does restart.

Bruce is expected to see out the remainder of the season, regardless of the takeover, with the report claiming no approach has yet been made to Pochettino or any other leading candidate to take the role.
Bruce has surprised many by guiding Newcastle away from relegation danger this season and it appears he has a strong rapport with the playing squad on Tyneside.
A recent report from The Chronicle suggested that Newcastle would be required to pay £3 million in compensation to Bruce if they did decide to cut their losses on the manager post-takeover.
It will be interesting to see if the players can indeed force a reconsideration regarding the continuation of Bruce as Newcastle United boss in this new era.
