Newcastle United have now signalled that they’re willing to pay £30 million to sign a really strong midfielder in Vasco da Gama’s Andrey Santos, according to Torcedores.
The Magpies enjoyed a successful summer window as they brought in promising talents such as Alexander Isak and Sven Botman.
But it appears that Eddie Howe’s men are also targeting players for the future as well, having recently announced the signing of Australian starlet Garang Kuol from Central Coast Mariners.
90 Min reported last week that Newcastle are confident of beating Barcelona to sign Santos. Now, they have seemingly signalled that they are ready to pay up for the 18-year-old.

Newcastle willing to sign Santos
According to Torcedores, Newcastle recently made a ‘consultation’ with Santos’ agent Giuliano Bertolucci.
The Magpies apparently signalled that they are ready to pay £30 million for the talented midfielder.
But Howe’s men are yet to lodge an official proposal to Vasco, despite their interest.
Santos has been putting in some impressive displays for Vasco this season in Brazil’s second tier.

The youngster has scored seven goals in 30 appearances from midfield in Serie B.
The talented Brazil U20 international has received high praise from legend Juninho Pernanbucamo.
“It is difficult to find a player at 18 as ready as he is,” Juninho told Globo back in July.
“Physically he is a monster. Without the ball, his participation is total. I even wanted to see his GPS, because he doesn’t stop. And technically he is far above the others.
“He’s not going to be better than me, he’s going to be much better than me. He’s a much more complete player. At 18 I didn’t play half as much as he does, I’m not ashamed to say that.
“I once sent a message to (Carlos Roberto) Osório, vice president of the club. I asked: ‘Do you have any idea what this player is?’. That’s a €40million transfer player at the very least.
“Of course, due to the club’s situation, sometimes they are not in a position to negotiate. But today he should become the team’s highest earner. To renew his contract, this has to be done. You have to try to convince him to stay. It would be very sad for the fan and for Vasco to lose a player of that level, with that talent.
“When we see him talking, you see that he has a good education. He is simple. When he loses the ball, he behaves well. When he is missed, he behaves well. All these are signs that he is a boy with an awareness of reality.”
Newcastle will face stiff competition for Santos’ signature, with Barcelona reportedly interested in the youngster.
But the Magpies will be hoping the lure of Premier League football will be enough to convince the starlet to move to St James’ Park.
