Newcastle United are now in talks to sign Lyon midfielder Lucas Paqeuta this summer and he’s open to the move, according to 90 Min.
Reports have suggested that Arsenal are keen on ‘extraordinary’ Paqueta but it seems the Magpies are now stepping up their interest in the player.
Newcastle have been chasing James Maddison this summer, but the club reportedly feel Leicester are demanding way too much money.
And now Eddie Howe’s men are seemingly switching targets to Paqueta with just under two weeks left in the transfer window.

Newcastle now in talks for Paqueta
90 Min reports that talks for Paqueta are on between Newcastle and Lyon after the Magpies have had two bids rejected for Maddison.
Eddie Howe’s men are currently focusing on the Brazilian and his price has apparently dropped to around £33 million.
The 24-year-old is also a close friend with Bruno Guimaraes after their time at Lyon together. And Pauqeta is open to moving to Tyneside to link up with his former teammate.
Paqueta enjoyed a superb campaign with Lyon last season, scoring 11 goals and assisting seven times for the French club in all competitions.
After joining from AC Milan back in 2020, the South American has been a standout performer in Ligue 1.

And it’s this type of form that makes him an attractive option for Howe. As the club have seemingly been priced out of a move for Maddison, the Brazil international could be available for much cheaper.
Howe is keen to bolster his attacking options and depth this summer. The Englishman has been targeting attack-minded midfielders and wingers.
Paqueta would offer a creative outlet for Newcastle and could link up excellently with Guimaraes in midfield.
If Newcastle do move to sign the Brazilian, they will be hoping he makes a similar impact on the side to Guimaraes. The midfielder has been excellent since making the switch in January and it seems that Paqueta is keen to link up with him once again.
