According to a new exclusive report from the Daily Star, Newcastle will reignite their interest in John McGinn if Aston Villa are relegated at the end of the season.
The report comes despite it already being known back in April that Steve Bruce was keen on signing McGinn if he could. Indeed, it was the Daily Star who claimed that Newcastle were eyeing a deal back then.

However, with Villa looking increasingly likely to drop out of the Premier League, it appears the story could be gathering pace.
Villa were left heartbroken in midweek when Theo Walcott denied them a precious three points. It means Villa are now three points from safety with a worse goal difference than both Bournemouth and Watford.
Keeping McGinn, then, would appear to be difficult if they go down. The Scot has been the standout performer alongside Jack Grealish for Dean Smith’s charges.

He’d scored three goals prior to an injury ruling him out between December and March. He has, however, failed to hit the net since the return of PL football.
It might take big money but McGinn would be a quality addition for Bruce – TBR View
While there are so many ifs and buts in this one, there is little doubting that McGinn would add further quality to the Newcastle midfielder.
Jonjo Shelvey has done well, while Allan Saint-Maximin has impressed. Therefore, adding someone with the creative spark and tenacity of McGinn can only improve Bruce’s men further.
Indeed, former Newcastle boss, Graeme Souness, previously admitted he was a big fan of the midfielder, praising his ‘all-action and aggressive’ style of play.
