Barcelona-owned defender, Emerson, could be on his way to the Premier League this summer, with Tottenham, Newcastle, and Everton among the clubs interested in the Brazilian.
The 21-year-old is currently part-owned by both Barca and Real Betis. However, he is set to become a full-time Barcelona player this summer, with officials at the Nou Camp set to complete the full signing of him.
But according to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are only bringing him in so he can be sold on to raise funds. And MD claims that up to four Premier League clubs are interested, with Spurs, Newcastle, Everton, and even West Ham all said to be keen.
A move to the PL could appeal to Emerson. The player is determined to make it in Europe after moving to La Liga from Atletico Mineiro. Indeed, he is full of confidence and has spoken (Goal) of how he believes his path can follow that of Barcelona legend, Dani Alves.
“I have four idols: Dani Alves, Cafu, Roberto Carlos and Marcelo. Many people compare my story with Alves’, yes. He’s an example. I also want to play in the Champions League with Barcelona and win as many cups as possible.”
It seems, then, that whoever signs him in England would be getting a determined and talented addition to their squad.
Ideal for Spurs, Serge Aurier continues to struggle – TBR View
Out of the clubs mentioned, you would definitely assume it is Spurs who have the most need for a new right-back.
Serge Aurier just seems to continually struggle for consistency. Whether that is something Emerson could resolve, though, remains to be seen.
On the other side of the coin, Newcastle could lose DeAndre Yedlin this summer. That could well open the door for Emerson to move to St James’ Park.
MD also claim Inter Milan have been watching Emerson, meaning there is hefty competition for the 21-year-old as the transfer window draws nearer.
