According to a report from the Sun, Newcastle are keen on ensuring they sign Oxford United defender, Rob Dickie, this summer.
Manager Steve Bruce is said to be very keen on signing Dickie, who could be available for just £2m despite a brilliant season for Oxford.

The 24-year-old powerhouse defender has impressed massively down the footballing pyramid. His form has caught the eye, too, with a report in midweek claiming as many as four clubs, including Newcastle and Leeds, were keen on the defender.
Newcastle are desperate for reinforcements this summer and after seeing Chris Smalling apparently reject them, Dickie might be the ideal signing for Bruce at this moment in time.

The low fee for Dickie is expected given he only has a year left on his contract with Karl Robinson’s outfit. Dickie very nearly guided the U’s to the Championship but saw a playoff final defeat break his heart.
This is a good move by Newcastle, Dickie has bags of potential and won’t cost a bomb – TBR View
Just because it’s not a massive name doesn’t always mean it isn’t going to be a good signing. And that’s exactly how it could be if the Magpies land Dickie.
There are still some gems down in League One and Two who deserve someone to take a punt on them. Dickie is one of them, having been one of the standout League One players all season long.
Yes, he doesn’t come with a reputation but he comes willing to improve and impress, something that money cannot buy at times.
Hopefully, this is a signing that pays dividends for Bruce if it comes off.
