Newcastle United are set to throw their name into the hat to land Real Madrid striker, Luka Jovic.
The Serbian striker is set to move away from the Spanish capital this summer. After a disappointing spell in La Liga, a number of clubs are apparently keen on taking Jovic off Madrid’s hands.
The likes of Arsenal and Spurs have both been credited with an interest, while AC Milan are also thought to be a club that interests Jovic.
However, according to a fresh report from 90min.com, Newcastle could now launch their own bid for the striker.
Jovic would no doubt cost a fair chunk of change for the Magpies. After sealing a move worth in excess of £50m to Madrid just last summer, the Bernabeu club will want their money back.
But funds shouldn’t be an issue for Newcastle. With their new Saudi Arabian backed owners in charge, Jovic might well be the man the club moves for first as they look to make an impression in the market.
Jovic link was inevitable but it could well be worth the punt for Newcastle – TBR View
Jovic is a name that is going to be touted around all summer until someone seals a deal for him.
It is, therefore, little surprise to see Newcastle now enter the fray. It could be a good signing for the Magpies, too.
Jovic will have a point to prove after his disastrous spell in Spain. That means Newcastle could reap the benefits of a player who is hungry to succeed and get back amongst the goals.
Of course, there is a risk that he is low on confidence. However, with new money and other signings expected, Jovic might well jump at the chance to be the main number nine on Tyneside.
