Newcastle United will be offered another chance to sign AC Milan defender Diego Laxalt this summer.
Chronicle Live report the Magpies are in the market for a new left-back, with Matt Ritchie having had to play out of position for most of the 2018/19 campaign.

Paul Dummett started the season as the regular left-back before Rafa Benitez changed his system, and January loan signing Antonio Barreca has made just one cameo appearance for the first-team.
Former Genoa ace Laxalt has struggled to impress at San Siro following his €18 million (£15.5 million) move last summer (via Football Italia).
The 26-year-old plays second fiddle to Ricardo Rodriguez and has not started life with the Rossoneri in the way he had hoped.
TBR’s view
Laxalt showed at the World Cup that he is a very capable, attacking left-back.
His performances in Russia seemingly were enough to prompt Milan into signing him – he has perhaps been a little unfortunate for the Italian giants in his first season.
If Newcastle are indeed offered the chance to sign him again (Calciomercato reported interest back in January), then they should not think twice.

Clearly Barreca was a panic buy after Jordan Lukaku failed his medical, and the Italian will surely not be joining the club permanently.
Laxalt would be fine addition; his attacking mentality could see him fit Newcastle’s current system that uses wing-backs really nicely.
