Newcastle United remain interested in signing Torino captain Andrea Belotti this summer, according to a report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.

Belotti is currently set to be a free agent at the end of the season. He has spent seven years in Turin, scoring 110 goals in 246 games for the club. However, it appears that he is set to leave on a free transfer in the summer.

Calciomercato reported in February that Belotti had rejected an offer from Newcastle. The Magpies’ offer was reportedly worth around £111,500-a-week.

But it seems that Eddie Howe’s men have not been deterred. Tuttomercatoweb reports that several sides continue to monitor Belotti ahead of the end of the campaign.

And Newcastle, along with West Ham, still want the 28-year-old. It is not clear whether they expect to have anymore luck should they make another offer for the striker.

The likes of Inter, Roma and Atalanta also want Belotti. Fiorentina meanwhile, are also admirers. They, of course, sold Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus in January.

Free transfer for Andrea Belotti could be a superb piece of business from Newcastle

Belotti has not been as prolific this season. In fact, he has only scored five goals in 17 appearances for the club in Serie A.

But on a free transfer, there is definitely scope for a deal to be an amazing one. He has previously been labelled an ‘extraordinary striker‘.

He is a leader with Torino. And those qualities will surely appeal to Howe as he continues to mould his squad on Tyneside.

It would be a real statement if the Magpies could bring Belotti to St James’ Park. And it would certainly appear that Newcastle are not ready to admit defeat in the race just yet.
