The Chronicle have claimed that Newcastle United are to complete the signing of Allan Saint-Maximin from OGC Nice this weekend, but Eintracht Frankfurt defender Jetro Willems is also expected to join.
It is believed Newcastle have agreed a move for 22-year-old Saint-Maximin after a fee of £16.5million was agreed with Patrick Vieira’s side. With a deal expected to be completed, it ends a long saga in which Maximin finally joins.
But the French speedster may not be the only new player to walk through the entrance at St. James’ Park this weekend. Indeed, the report claims Netherlands international Willems is also set to move to Tyneside.
Willems has been on Newcastle’s radar since 2014 according to the Chronicle, and the former PSV Eindhoven defender is now set to finally end Newcastle’s left-back woes. Both players have agreed moves.

TBR’s view – Willems an excellent Newcaste signing
Newcastle have needed a new left-back for quite some time and it has seen Rafa Benitez bring in flop Antonio Barreca, as well as Kenedy from Chelsea – only for the Brazilian to play further forward.
Paul Dummett is a solid option, but it is believed better can be brought in. Matt Ritchie has even been used on the left side of defence, while Javi Manquillo is naturally a right-back.
Willems, then, solves a long-standing issue. He brings pace, defensive solidity but the ability to whip in a cross, too.
