Newcastle United plan to offer Bournemouth both Matt Ritchie and Dwight Gayle as part of a bid for Callum Wilson, according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (16/8; page 66).
Wilson is on the Magpies’ radar following the Cherries’ relegation this past season. He scored eight times in the Premier League, and the Mirror notes that his valuation has dropped from £50 million last summer to around £20 million.

Steve Bruce certainly needs to add goals this summer. Jonjo Shelvey finished the campaign as their top goalscorer with just six strikes to his name.
And it appears that Newcastle are ready to make a big move to bring Wilson to St James’ Park.

The Sunday Mirror (16/8; page 66) reports that Gayle and Ritchie could move to the Vitality Stadium with the 28-year-old moving in the opposite direction.
It is suggested that the Newcastle pair are valued at around £8.5 million each. The bid will then be topped up by cash.
TBR View: Bournemouth may be wise to accept Newcastle bid
If Bournemouth are resigned to losing Wilson, Newcastle’s offer may well appeal. Both Gayle and Ritchie have previously been outstanding in the Championship.
Of course, Jason Tindall may want to move in a different direction. Gayle is the younger of the pair and will turn 30 before the end of the year. Ritchie, of course, previously enjoyed a very successful spell with the Cherries.
If Bournemouth are open to a swap, Newcastle still need to agree upon a valuation for Wilson. But it would be no surprise if there were fans of both clubs who felt that it could be a good piece of business for all parties.
