Newcastle United are being linked with Andre Ayew, who’s available on a free transfer this summer following his imminent exit from Swansea City.

It’s been announced the 31-year-old is leaving Championship club Swansea at the end of the month. He has not signed a new deal at the Liberty Stadium and his contract has run down.

According to GHANASoccrenet.com, Newcastle are looking at Ayew as a target.

It is understood the Magpies hope to strike a deal for the Ghana international in their attempt to sign a new forward.

He scored 16 league goals last season in the Championship for Swansea, where he lead the line so well with his pace and intelligent movement.

However, he does have Premier League experience, too. The left-footer has 21 goals in 98 Premier League appearances during his career.

Ayew would be a shrewd Newcastle addition

Ayew looks a great target for Steve Bruce’s Newcastle.

Firstly, the experienced striker would provide genuine cover and competition for Callum Wilson at St James’ Park. Secondly, he’s got the know-how to make an instant impact if he is back in the top flight next season. Finally, the fact he’s on a free transfer seems a no-brainer.

It’s unclear on what wages he would demand, but Newcastle should step up interest by making contact for him.

The Toon can enjoy a strong 2021/22 season if they fill their squad out.
