The latest reports suggest that Newcastle United want to bolster their attacking options and they have sent scouts to watch forward Lois Openda.

According to 90Min, multiple Premier League clubs, including Newcastle, Manchester United and Liverpool, have scouted the 23-year-old.

For now, Newcastle are just monitoring Openda. No official bids have been made. With so many clubs keen, there is no doubt that we could easily see a bidding war over the summer.

The striker burst out of nowhere onto the scene this season. Back in March, the Lens forward managed to score a hat trick in four minutes and 30 seconds (270 seconds).

This is the fastest in the division since 1967.

Newcastle interested in Openda

It is no shock to see Newcastle look for exciting talent to bolster their squad. They have shocked many by battling for a top four spot this season.

Due to this they need to battle some of Europe’s elite for transfers. Openda – who reportedly has a £26million price tag – is definitely a player who would strengthen their squad.

They do not want to be a team who battles well one year and then drop off the next. They will be looking to add quality to multiple positions this summer.

It will be very exciting to see if the Magpies can battle with other clubs for the signing of Openda. He has scored 19 goals this campaign and has helped Lens battled for the title.

They have very wealthy owners who can compete with any club. All they need to do is make sure they qualify for the Champions League and they could be signing a lot more players of Openda’s quality.
