Report: Newcastle scouting striker also linked with Arsenal, Everton and West Ham

Football website 90Min have claimed that Newcastle United have scouted Ligue 1 side Reims striker Boulaye Dia – but could face competition from a whole host of Premier League sides including Arsenal, Everton and West Ham.

Senegal international Dia, 24, has been on fire for top-tier side Reims this season. The striker, who can also play out wide, has netted nine goals in 14 league games – but his future looks as though it is going to be away from Reims.

Dia is about to enter the final 18 months of his contract at Reims, and it has alerted a handful of English clubs. The latest report claims Newcastle have scouted Dia, but that West Ham are leading the charge for the African ace.

Just last week, Le10 Sport claimed Arsenal and Everton are battling for the signature of Dia. Bags of pace and the versatility of playing out wide, Dia has all the attributes capable of impressing in the Premier League.

TBR’s view – Which club needs a player like Dia most?

Arsenal, Everton, West Ham or Newcastle? The Gunners have enormous competition already up front and with Gabriel Martinelli returning from injury, they certainly do not need a player like Dia.

Everton could do with back-up for Dom Calvert-Lewin with Cenk Tosun likely to leave. But Moise Kean has impressed at PSG and he could return. West Ham have Seb Haller and Michail Antonio, but the latter is injured.

At Newcastle, Steve Bruce likes to use two strikers and has played Joelinton alongside Callum Wilson. Andy Carroll is yet to score since rejoining in the summer of 2019, while Dwight Gayle is used off the bench.

In terms of getting game time, St. James’ Park is his best bet.
