Newcastle United plan to make a £45 million bid for Eberechi Eze when the summer transfer window opens, according to a report from The Sun.

Eze has endured a frustrating campaign so far. The 23-year-old spent the opening few months coming back from a serious injury. And he has not yet been able to re-establish himself in Patrick Vieira’s side.

Nevertheless, the Magpies were ready to part with a huge sum to bring him to St James’ Park. The Sun reports that they offered £5 million to take him on loan in January. The bid would have included a £35 million option to buy in the summer.

Unsurprisingly, Palace snubbed the offer. However, Newcastle are not ready to admit defeat in their pursuit of Eze.

The Sun suggests that they now plan to make a £45 million bid at the end of the season. And they are reportedly confident that they will get a deal done for the attacking midfielder.

It is suggested that the Eagles would be open to cashing in for a fee that sees them net a huge profit on the £17 million they spent. A move would see Newcastle break their transfer record.

Plenty of Premier League rivals will be envious should Newcastle manage to land Eze

Eze is yet to rediscover his best form. However, that will surely come once he is back to full fitness and sharpness. He is too impressive a talent to not kick on.

He was absolutely devastating at times during his first season at Selhurst Park. There were times when opposition defenders seemed completely incapable of getting the ball off of him.

His former Queens Park Rangers boss Mark Warburton described him as a ‘special‘ player. And there would surely be plenty of Palace fans who would be extremely unhappy should they give Eze the green light to join Newcastle.
