Newcastle United are pushing hard to be the ones to win the race to sign Juventus youngster Radu Dragusin, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.It.
The Magpies were initially linked with the 19-year-old in January. Calciomercato reported that Newcastle and Tottenham Hotspur were two of the clubs monitoring the centre-back.
The Romanian’s contract with the Old Lady expires in the summer. And while Juventus reportedly have every intention of holding onto him, it appears that he has plenty of options on the table.
Calciomercato. It makes no mention of Tottenham in their report. So it is not clear how interested they currently are. However, they do claim that Newcastle are keen, along with RB Leipzig and Atalanta.
Interestingly, the report adds that the Magpies are pushing hard to land Dragusin. It is claimed that Steve Bruce has made a clear request that he wants the player.
The report suggests that there are doubts over the futures of both Fabian Schar and Federico Fernandez due to their own expiring contracts.
Their possible departures would perhaps leave Newcastle in a strong position to offer Dragusin assurances. The calibre of clubs reportedly chasing him highlights the significant potential he boasts.
So the Magpies may be willing to offer him plenty of game-time. They may need to, with the likes of Leipzig and Atalanta also in the running should Juve fail to agree fresh terms.
