Newcastle United are reportedly considering a swoop to try sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are preparing an £8million offer for the centre-back, who is also attracting interest from Italy.
It is explained that Scottish giants Celtic risk losing him for a fraction of what they hoped for due to his contract situation, and they value him at closer to £35million.
The report states that the 22-year-old is being urged to make a move to the Premier League by his national team manager Stale Solbakken, something that the player would be keen on doing.
Ajer is a 19-time capped Norway international who’s out of contact with Celtic in 2022, which leaves them in a slightly precarious position when it comes to his future.

TBR’s View:
If Newcastle fall into the relegation zone and and drop out of the Premier League, then this move looks a non-starter.
But Ajer would be a brilliant a target for the Toon if they stay in the top flight.
He is a 6ft 6in colossus regarded as one of the top talents at Celtic.
Ajer is a ball-playing centre-half that is so comfortable in possession, plus aged 22 he’s got so much potential to improve and looks a star in the making.
If Celtic are forced to get rid of their defender at the end of the season, surely they can receive a much larger transfer fee than £8million for him amid interest.
