Newcastle United manager has reportedly asked his club to try sign Everton midfielder Tom Davies this summer.
According to the Daily Mail, the Magpies are targeting the 22-year-old from their Premier League rivals and could make a £12million bid for him.
The report explains that Everton would ideally prefer to offload some of their highest earners, rather than a youngster from the academy.
Davies, who earns £25,000-a-week (Spotrac), is someone to come through the academy at Goodison Park and has been a first-team regular during the past couple of seasons.
The central midfielder made 32 appearance across all competitions last season for the Toffees and has a no-nonsense approach with his tackling, plus he can pop up with a goal in offensive areas.

TBR’s View:
Newcastle’s interest in Everton youngster Davies does come as a slight surprise, but at £12million he’s someone that could be a decent addition at St James’ Park.
The Liverpool-born midfielder hasn’t quite kicked on since he burst onto the scene at Everton as a rising talent, but there is no doubt he’s a composed presence in the centre and he’s made 17 appearances for England’s Under-21s side.
He’s already played 121 first-team games for Everton too at the age of 22 and perhaps a change of scenery could be what he needs to really kick on as a Premier League player.
