Report: Newcastle player actually asked Nabil Bentaleb for advice when he was struggling

Sean Longstaff actually got advice from Nabil Bentaleb during his time at Newcastle United, the Athletic report.

At that time Longstaff was widely tipped to become a hugely important player for Newcastle, and he was already being linked with a move to Manchester United.

Bentaleb had also broken through as a real prospect at Tottenham Hotspur in his teens, but he never truly progressed into the player many expected.

There are fears that Longstaff’s career could go the same way, as he has fallen out of favour in recent times.

But it seems that the central midfielder has been doing everything in his power to make sure he does make a success of his time at St. James’ Park.

Longstaff went as far as to take advice from Bentaleb over how to cope with the hype and attention, when he was struggling with it.

Could Longstaff leave?

The problem for Longstaff is he is now facing a hugely important season in his career, but seems well outside of Steve Bruce’s plans.

He didn’t start Newcastle’s first game of the season and the club have just added Joe Willock to bolster their ranks.

That has seen Longstaff linked with a move away from the club.

And it may be that Longstaff now needs a move to a new environment if he is to go on and fulfil his potential.
