Newcastle United are already planning their summer spending spree and according to reports today, will make a move for Nigeria and Nantes winger, Moses Simon.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, Simon is one of Newcastle’s very top targets for the upcoming summer window. It’s claimed that Nantes want around £20m for their speedy attacking star, who impressed during the recent AFCON tournament.
OwnGoalNigeria claims that while Newcastle face competition from Leeds for Simon, the Magpies are willing to offer around £100k-a-week in wages to the 26-year-old. Nantes are said to be open to a deal, and with that sort of money offered, it’s unlikely Simon would say no to a move.

The Magpies enjoyed a good first window under PIF. They landed five players, including the marquee capture of Brazilian midfield star, Bruno Guimarães.
Simon would slot in nicely for Newcastle on either flank. In fact, he can even play as a number nine if needed. He’s won 43 caps for Nigeria, scoring five goals in the process. Last season, he contributed six goals and six assists for Nantes in his 36 games overall.
TBR’s View: Newcastle Planning Early With Moses Simon
It looks like Newcastle are growing increasingly confident of staying up and with that, comes planning for the prospect of another busy transfer window.
Moses Simon is a quality looking player. His speed and power make him a dangerous opponent for anyone and we’ve all seen how important pace is in the Premier League. Indeed, the thought of both Simon and Saint Maximin in the wide areas is a positive one for the Magpies.
£20m is the sort of figure Newcastle won’t even bat an eyelid at now. Yes, £100k-a-week wages might seem excessive, but that’s just the going rate in modern football for top players. Plus, it’s not like the club can’t afford it.
