Italian outlet CalcioMercato have claimed Newcastle United are one of three clubs to have opened talks to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot – but face competition from Manchester United and Everton.

Rabiot, 25, is expected to leave Juventus this summer after a difficult first campaign with the Old Lady. Just 16 starts throughout the entire 2019-20 campaign since his free transfer from PSG, Rabiot is disillusioned under Maurizio Sarri.

The France international is currently earning around £120,000 a week as per the report, but it is believed Newcastle have offered the midfielder a deal that far exceeds his current take home. Juventus want between £17.8million and £26.5million.

The talks come after TuttoJuve claimed Newcastle want three of Juve’s players, in Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Douglas Costa. Rabiot is keen on a move to the Premier League as per the latest report, but Manchester United and Everton are also in talks.

TBR’s view – Rabiot a bargain at just over £26m, but attitude is doubtful

Fuelled by the advice of his mother-agent Veronique, Rabiot’s attitude has come into question over the past couple of seasons after he ran down his contract with Ligue 1 champions PSG in order to force a move to current league leaders Juventus.

But instead of fighting for his place at Juventus, Rabiot is already looking elsewhere – showing a lack of grit and determination to win a place in Sarri’s team. He is certainly worth the gamble, but his attitude is a question mark.
