Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips is on the radar of Newcastle United heading into the January transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph.
The importance of next month is seemingly increasing with every game that passes for Eddie Howe’s men.

Unfortunately, their wait for that first Premier League win of the season continues. And they passed up a fantastic opportunity as they hosted fellow strugglers Norwich City on Tuesday.
That game included a moment of madness from centre-back Ciaran Clark. The former Aston Villa man was dismissed after just nine minutes after bringing down Teemu Pukki.
It would be no surprise to see the Magpies strengthen at the back when the window opens.

And according to The Telegraph, one of the players on their radar is Phillips.
Nat Phillips could be a brilliant signing for Newcastle – if Magpies can tempt Liverpool man into move
It has been a difficult campaign for the 24-year-old. He produced some colossal performances towards the end of last season as Liverpool ended up squeezing into the Champions League places. And he actually signed a new contract in August.
However, he is yet to feature in the Premier League this term. In fact, he has only been on the bench on a handful of occasions.
He may be keen to leave Anfield in some capacity next month. However, you could also understand if he had reservations about moving to Tyneside.
As things stand, Newcastle are going to need quite the turnaround to keep themselves in the Premier League.
And potential targets may be reluctant to move without assurances that others are also coming through the St James’ Park door.
But there is no doubt that Phillips would be the kind of player who could make a real difference for Newcastle during the second-half of the season.
