Report: Newcastle now interested in signing Championship attacker

The Chronicle have claimed that Hull City attacker Jarrod Bowen has become a target for Newcastle United this summer, which would see Steve Bruce sign the winger for a second time.

Bowen, 22, starred for Bruce’s old side Hull in the Championship last season. He found the back of the net 22 times in 46 Championship fixtures, and is now expected to be available for transfer.

Despite that excellent form, Bowen has less than 12 months remaining on his contract at Hull. If the Championship side are to bring in some cash for his signature, it looks as though they will have to sell their star man this summer.

The report claims Hull want a figure of £10million for Bowen, which is more than affordable for Newcastle who have spent a large chunk of their £90million transfer budget on Brazilian ace Joelinton.

Bruce signed Bowen for Hull from non-league side Hereford, but Bowen failed to make a single appearances under the Bruce. Instead, he was made to wait until after Bruce had left before his debut came about.

TBR’s view – £10m for Bowen is a bargain for Newcastle

To scored as many as 22 goals from out wide in the Championship, at just 22 years of age, your value is expected to be in the region of £30million. Jack Grealish did a lot less last season, and is worth more than that.

So, for Bowen to be valued at just £10million, Newcastle have simply got to take advantage of Bruce’s connections with Bowen and lure him to St. James’ Park immediately.
