Newcastle United now think that James Maddison wants to join them in the January transfer window and he is a priority target.
The Northern Echo claim that Maddison is now Newcastle’s main target for the winter market as they want a new playmaker.
Anthony Gordon is also of interest but Newcastle think that signing his English countryman is a far more viable target.
They believe that Maddison wants to join them and make the move away from Leicester who have struggled at the start of the season.

Newcastle think Maddison wants to join
They have indications that if a fee can be agreed with Leicester then doing the deal with Maddison should be fairly straightforward.
The report says that Newcastle value Maddison around £40 million, and he has less than two years left on his current deal.
Leicester are expected to offer a new one but the England international is unlikely to sign it and tie himself down at a time when he is looking to move.
Former Newcastle defender Jose Enrique has already given his view on the potential swoop to bring Maddison to the north east, calling it a potentially ‘amazing’ signing.
He is a proven Premier League performer with his best years ahead of him and driven by the ambition of establishing himself in the England setup.
So far, he has just the one cap to his name as his continues his efforts to try and impress Gareth Southgate, and by the time he next gets the chance to move, we will know if he was part of the World Cup squad or not…
