Newcastle United are reportedly eyeing a move for Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout.
Calciomercato and Area Napoli – via Sport Witness -have both covered the Magpies’ purported interest in the Frenchman.
Newcastle successfully secured Premier League safety this season and are likely to bolster their ranks significantly in summer.

And Veretout, one of Roma’s key players, is apparently on the Magpies’ radar as they look to kick on in the league.
Calciomercato has claimed that French outfit Marseille is after the 29-year-old.
They have also reported that Newcastle have been eyeing Veretout for some time.
The Italian outlet claims Roma are asking for €15m (around £13m) for the midfielder.
Veretout reportedly wants a salary of around €4.5m (£3.8m) per year, which he had asked for at Roma last year.
The Giallorossi were apparently unwilling to pay it, hence him opting to leave this year.
Meanwhile, Area Napoli reckons the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona side are also in pursuit of Veretout.
However, they’ll have to contend with a Newcastle side ‘ready to cover him in gold’.
The Magpies ‘may soon make an official offer’ to convince the player into a move to St James’ Park.
Can Newcastle land “Roma’s hub”?
Veretout already has Premier League experience, having previously played at Aston Villa.
He is a versatile, hard working, tenacious and technically superb midfielder.
Veretout, who has also played for Fiorentina, Saint-Etienne and Nantes, can play in central, defensive and attacking midfield.
In 2020, former Nantes ace Benoit Cauet told 20 Minutes: “He’s one of the best midfielders in Italy right now.
“He’s Roma’s hub, the leader of the team. He’s really exploded with his performances for the side.”
