Report: Newcastle not giving up on signing Jack Harrison from Leeds
Newcastle United are not giving up on signing Jack Harrison, with The Telegraph reporting that they are awaiting a decision from Leeds on his availability and price.
The Magpies have been linked with a move for Harrison for some time. The winger played a key role in helping Leeds keep themselves in the Premier League on the final day of last season.
Unsurprisingly, the Whites are not keen to lose the 25-year-old. They have already sold their two best players in this window. And losing Harrison would be particularly difficult to deal with at this stage of the summer.
Nevertheless, Newcastle have tried their luck. Reports claimed that they have already made a bid for the Englishman. In fact, it was suggested that the Magpies made a £25 million offer for Harrison.
Reports have claimed that Leeds want £35 million for the former Manchester City man. But it would seem that Newcastle are not admitting defeat just yet.
According to a report from The Telegraph, Newcastle are still waiting for Leeds to make a decision on his availability and price. Perhaps, they are hoping that there is the potential for the two clubs to agree a lower fee.
Newcastle not giving up on signing Harrison
Leeds fans will worry that the board could yet be open to a compromise. A look on social media will tell you that there was plenty of discontent over the fees received for Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha.
Leeds have other wide options. Meanwhile, they must sign a new striker and left-back. And they may welcome a boost to their transfer kitty.
Ideally, that would not come from selling Harrison. But if Newcastle get closer to their asking price, perhaps it may be something that the board think about.
For Newcastle, he would certainly have the potential to be a brilliant signing. He has been labelled an ‘unbelievable‘ player. He works incredibly hard and has quality in front of goal.
You can see why Newcastle are not giving up yet.
