Report: 'Very dangerous' player could leave Newcastle soon, he's played eight times this season

Newcastle United winger Ryan Fraser is being eyed by a number of Premier League and Championship clubs. According to Chronicle Live, the 28-year-old could be willing to leave St James’ Park when the January transfer window reopens.

Fraser has found first-team football hard to come by. He joined Newcastle from Bournemouth in 2020 but the report claims that he could be willing to return to the south coast.

The Scotland forward has started just three games for Newcastle this season. Regular action hasn’t been forthcoming and with the Magpies sitting third in the Premier League, that might not change any time soon.

Fraser could be on the radar of his former club. Bournemouth are reportedly set to hand Gary O’Neil the managerial position on a permanent basis and he’ll be handed cash to spend in January.

The 25-cap winger has managed just 59 appearances for Newcastle in total.

Fraser was excellent for Bournemouth and seemed to enjoy his football there. He made 208 appearances for the Cherries, scoring 24 goals and laying on a further 33 in the way of assists.

Fraser being eyed by a number of clubs but south coast move could appeal

The player is at an age where he needs to play regular football. He’s very unlikely to have much of an impact at Newcastle in the near future and they will probably strengthen again in January.

A move to the south coast could definitely appeal to Fraser. He knows that Bournemouth was where he played his best football. As a result, that could resonate with him when it comes to choosing his next move.

Former Scotland boss Alex McLeish is a huge fan of Fraser. In 2018, he called him ‘very dangerous’ after a 4-0 thrashing of Albania for the Tartan Army and he was a regular in the Scotland team during that period.

Fraser’s time at Newcastle looks set to be coming to an end. He will leave with the club’s best wishes but a move now looks like the only outcome for the winger.
