Report: Newcastle make last-minute bid for Boubacar Kamara
Newcastle United have made a last minute bid for Boubacar Kamara, according to a report from Le Phoceen.
The Magpies have been one of the Premier League’s quietest sides throughout the summer. In fact, Joe Willock was their only marquee addition heading into the final day of the window.
In truth, fans seemed to go into Tuesday expecting little. And they could only hope to be pleasantly surprised.
Interestingly, it would appear that Steve Bruce’s side may have attempted to bolster their squad further before the deadline passes.
According to Le Phoceen, Marseille have received a last-gasp bid for Kamara from Newcastle.
Unfortunately for the Magpies, Kamara is reportedly hesitant about making a move. But the report does note that the Ligue 1 side will have to sell if they want to make further additions of their own.
Kamara move would be silver lining for Newcastle fans in another frustrating window
It does appear that Newcastle are unlikely to get a deal done in this window. Certainly, they have work to do to convince Kamara to make a move.
But it would be a late positive if they could bring him to St James’ Park. The 21-year-old is an incredibly bright talent.
He would strengthen Bruce’s options at centre-back and in the middle of the park.
It would not alleviate all of the fans’ concerns. There are other areas that needed addressing before the deadline passed.
It would be a boost if a deal for Kamara was done before the window shut.
But there is also likely to be a lot of frustration that Newcastle have seemingly left it so late.
