Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Lucas Biglia.

According to Calciomercato, the Magpies have made contact with the agent of the Italian veteran, 33, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Biglia has been in Serie A since 2013, arriving on the scene at Lazio before transferring to Milan for a reported €17 million/£14.5 million (Goal) in the summer of 2017 as part of the club’s transfer revolution.

Before that, he spent seven seasons at Belgian outfit Anderlecht, for whom he featured over 300 times.

This season Biglia has been used sparingly by the Rossoneri, making just seven appearances so far in 2019/20.

Also interested in the player are Watford and Norwich City, Calciomercato claim.

TBR’s view – An underwhelming signing?

Biglia has had a great career, but he turns 34 at the end of the month and the sheer pace and intensity of the Premier League may simply be too much for the star.

Newcastle can get by without adding midfielders this month – it’s in attack where they really need to strengthen, with Joelinton having largely struggled.
