Report: Newcastle made enquiry for Marcus Rashford
Newcastle United have made an enquiry for Marcus Rashford, but 90min reports that the forward is expected to stay at Manchester United this summer.
Rashford appears to be one player who desperately needs the change on its way at Old Trafford. Of course, Erik ten Hag has taken over as the club’s manager.
But obviously, with a new boss coming in, there is always a chance that some previously-key players may find themselves made available. And, from the outside, Rashford may have been a contender for many.
In truth, it proved to be a torrid season for the England international this past year. And that appears to have prompted a number of sides to ask about poaching Rashford this summer.
Reports this week claimed that Tottenham had seen an approach rejected. And it turns out that they are not the only ones.
According to 90min, Newcastle made an enquiry for Rashford. West Ham, Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain also registered an interest.
However, Ten Hag is excited about the chance to work with the 24-year-old. And thus, there is no intention to sanction a departure. For his part, Rashford does not want to leave either.
Newcastle make enquiry for Marcus Rashford
Newcastle signing Rashford would have been a remarkable statement. Obviously, there is a lot of anticipation for what will the Magpies do this summer.
Rashford has been described as an ‘unbelievable‘ player. And it would be fantastic to see the forward get his career back on track. If anyone deserves a good break, it is certainly Rashford.
It would have been a gamble to sign Rashford given the kind of fee Manchester United would have asked for. So it will be interesting to see whether the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham end up feeling that they have had a lucky escape.
