Report: Newcastle linked Tuanzebe likely to leave on loan
Newcastle-linked Axel Tuanzebe is likely to leave Manchester United on a season-long loan.
What’s the story?
According to The Telegraph, the imminent signing of Raphael Varane could push the defender out the exit door.
A deal has been agreed between the Red Devils, Real Madrid and the player over a move to Old Trafford.
United will pay a fee of around €50m (£42.7m) for the France international, says Fabrizio Romano.
It will open up a chance for the Geordies to sign the 23-year-old, who endured a tough campaign last season.
Gametime will lure Tuanzebe to Newcastle on loan
Tuanzebe played just 19 times across all competitions, however, one of them proved to be quite outstanding.
The England youth international played a key role in the northwest giants’ 2-1 win over Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League.
David de Gea roundly praised the defender for his performance, claiming he was ‘unbelievable‘.
But, that game aside, the DR Congo-born ace rarely featured for the first-team under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
It leaves the Magpies in an advantageous position with regards to completing a loan deal.
Tuanzebe would have better luck breaking into the Geordies starting XI given their issues at centre-half.
Federico Fernandez was the most used Newcastle central defender last term, playing just 24 times.
Steve Bruce desperately crave a fit and quality option at the back. There proves no better option than the 23-year-old, who has already shown off his quality at the highest level.
