Newcastle United officials are apparently aware that Ethan Ampadu has been made available by Chelsea, the Northern Echo report.
Available for transfer
Chelsea have apparently told Ampadu that he is free to leave on loan again, after failing to make their match day squad on opening day.
And Newcastle have now made their first move to seal a deal.
The Magpies have apparently made an inquiry, as they seek to take Ampadu on loan for the season.
Newcastle’s limited budget, after spending big on Joe Willock, means that they may now be limited to going for temporary moves.
And landing Ampadu, who was called a ‘leader’ by Ryan Giggs (Chelsea official website), now appears to be a distinct possibility, with all parties open to doing a deal.
Points to prove
If Ampadu was to join Newcastle he would do so with much to prove.

The youngster went on a temporary spell with Sheffield United last season as they were relegated from the Premier League.
Ampadu did show signs of promise during his stint at Bramall Lane, but there were also moments where his inexperience was evident.
The Welsh international could be a useful addition to Steve Bruce’s squad though, as he is able to cover both in central defence and in midfield.
