Report: Newcastle keeping tabs on Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts ahead of the summer window.

Roberts has played a pivotal role in the Leeds squad this season, despite not always being a regular starter under Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds are thought to be keen on keeping hold of the attacking midfielder. Indeed, he has been offered fresh terms with the club, although no deal has been signed as yet. That, in turn, has alerted Newcastle.

The Mail claims that the Magpies are keeping their eye on Roberts, and could be willing to pay the £10m fee Leeds feel he’d bring. A £10m sale would represent a profit for Leeds, who only paid around £4m for Roberts when all add-ons are included.

Roberts has yet to score his first Premier League goal as yet. He has contributed two assists in his 25 PL appearances, but he’ll be keen to improve on that next season regardless of the club he’s at.

TBR View: £10m for Roberts is good business for Leeds here

Especially for a player who, in all honesty, is hardly pulling up any trees in his attacking midfield role. Leeds have other and better options there, as demonstrated by Rodrigo’s fine performance yesterday.

If Newcastle are willing to pay £10m for a player who isn’t among the goals and not even a guaranteed starter, then it might be a good deal for Leed who can then look to re-invest.
