According to Eurosport, Newcastle United could make a move for Norwich City midfielder, Todd Cantwell, as they look for summer additions.

Steve Bruce has seen his team dragged into a worrying relegation battle this season. And with Fulham well and truly on the charge, Newcastle’s Premier League status is very much under threat.

However, Eurosport claim that Cantwell is of interest to the Magpies, who are apparently keen to address a lack of energy and drive from central midfield areas.

Cantwell would certainly bring that. He scored six goals during Norwich’s one season in the PL last year, while he’s kicked into gear for the Canaries in recent months in the Championship.

The England under-21 star was courted by Leeds in January. Former Norwich striker, Dean Ashton, has also praised Cantwell recently, branding the midfielder a ‘wonderful talent’ who he knew would do well after first seeing him.

And this is the issue for Newcastle to be honest. They are a huge club of course, but they also always seem to have a drama going off somewhere and Steve Bruce is hardly the most liked manager in St James’ Park history.

Norwich are on their way back up the PL, barring a disaster anyway. Cantwell, then, will probably stay put.

He’s settled in Norwich, knows the system well under Daniel Farke, and is a regular. Put simply, a move to Newcastle simply won’t be that appealing at this very moment.
