Newcastle United are the latest club to take a look at Benoit Badiashile.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle scouts were present to watch Badiashile in action for Monaco against Bordeaux. The Ligue 1 game ended in a 2-1 win for hosts Bordeaux, who came from behind after Islam Slimani scored and was sent off for Monaco.

Badiashile plays in central defence and is highly regarded by club and country. The France U19 starlet is said to be valued at over £30m by Monaco.

Newcastle have joined Wolves and Chelsea in pursuit of Badiashile. All three clubs want to bring the French teenager to England for the next step in his career.

The Magpies are well-stocked in central defence but could target Badiashile as a long-term solution. Newcastle have scouts watching him so they will be aware of his progress and a move could follow.

TBR’s view

The 18-year-old stands at 6ft 4in tall and has already shown that he has the physical attributes to thrive in senior football. With 32 senior games to his name already, he comes with some level of experience too.

France have a number of talented young defenders coming through the ranks at the moment. Newcastle could pull off a coup if they beat a host of major European clubs to sign Badiashile from Monaco.
