Newcastle United are considering a move for Norwich City starlet Jon McCracken. According to the print edition of The Sun on Sunday (7th July, page 61), McCracken’s contract situation has prompted Newcastle to think about a raid.
McCracken is yet to agree on a new long-term contract at Norwich and he could leave. The young goalkeeper’s situation has alerted a few clubs.
According to The Scottish Sun, Burnley have offered the teenager a trial. But now Newcastle have entered the race and want to snap him up.
McCracken is yet to make the step up from youth team football to the senior game but is highly rated. The 19-year-old, who was formerly with Hamilton Academical, might be heading to Burnley’s pre-season training camp.

Newcastle will need to act quickly if they want to sign McCracken. The young Scotsman is also wanted by Wigan Athletic and Hearts, according to The Scottish Sun.
Should McCracken join Newcastle?
McCracken is a promising young goalkeeper and he only has one year left on his Norwich deal. He will probably be available for a bargain purchase so he is worth the risk for Newcastle.
But where should McCracken go? He needs to consider first-team opportunities when he makes his next move. The youngster might look at Newcastle’s ranks (Martin Dubravka, Freddie Woodman, Rob Elliot and Karl Darlow) and think about the other clubs interested.
